the 2020

No-distance festival

commissioning & presenting new works
created & performed together from a distance

The 2020 No-Distance Festival is an online music and dance festival in support of artists during this unprecedented crisis. Curators Jennifer McQuiston Lott and Hajnal Pivnick assembled and commissioned teams of choreographers and composers to create together from the safety of their homes, as a defiant celebration of artistic creativity amisdt uncertainty & extreme limitations.

Performances lasted 20-30 minutes and were presented in live events from May 22-Oct 31. Artists will be announced two weeks in advance, and include dancers and musicians from across a broad spectrum of styles and backgrounds, such as Kara Wilkes (Alonzo King LINES), Jonny Rodgers (Cindertalk), Darian Donovan Thomas, Megumi Eda (Armitage Gone! Dance). On August 7, we will feature some extraordinary artists who hail from Traverse City, including The Accidentals and TCDP Executive/Artistic Director Brent Whitney
