Except features performances by Thomason, Amaria Stern, also a 2020 graduate of the USC Kaufman School who has worked on film projects with both up-and-coming and established artists including Solange Knowles, and actor/singer Maya Lagerstam, known to TC audiences for her performances as Ronny in P45's 2019 production of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical and as the Blue Fairy in Little Bunny Foo-Foo

We are proud to announce the upcoming premiere of Except, created by 

choreographer Jakevis Thomason, commissioned & presented in partnership with Parallel 45 Theatre. 

Thomason is a 2020 graduate of the USC Kaufman School of Dance and, in 2019, was the first recipient of the Traverse City Dance Project's New Voices residency for emerging choreographers & composers, alongside acclaimed music artist Ian Chang. Since 2018, he has assisted and worked closely with choreographer Frank Gatson, creative director for recording

So far, we've featured work from choreographers Amy Saunder, Jeremy Zapanta, Christopher Bloom, Gabrielle Sprauve, Kaylin Sturtevant, composers Andrew Norman & Rafiq Bhatia, and violinist Hajnal Pivnick. Through you, we've raised over $2k in support of these artists & the continuance of the Festival.
